PROVINCETOWN
FAMILY ROOM
When you think of Cape Cod interiors, one of the first things to come to mind is a shiplap, white-washed, coastal vibe. NOT IN THIS ROOM BABY! While elements are still rooted in the coastal theme (see the bar cart, beamed ceiling, etc), the most important thing was to not follow a textbook stylistic category, but rather try to emphasize the feeling the room needed to evoke. And for my clients, that feeling needed to be inviting and entirely individualistic. It needed to be comfortable enough to host 2 people up to 10 people. It needed to feel warm, but not heavy. It needed to be… well.. this!
PROJECT DETAILS: clients love to host year round - which is why they opted for this addition to be a full-season room versus a small add-on for the summers. They wanted to be able to hunker down in a snow storm and feel enveloped at all angles while simultaneously enjoying summer BBQ’s with this room as the primary pass-through. And they figured if everyone in Provincetown has shiplap walls, white paint, and beachy furniture… then they’d like to go the opposite direction and have it be moody as hell.
